Melvin Van Peebles

Melvin Van Peebles (born August 21, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, US; died September 21, 2021 in New York City, US) was an American actor, director, screenwriter, playwright, novelist and composer. He was praised as the godfather of modern Black cinema and a trailblazer in American independent movies. Father of Mario van Peebles.
