I'm not in any way associated with this offer, which has been on Craigslist since October 14. So far apparently no takers, but maybe someone among the Shellac Attack regulars is closer to it than me and has the space & money ($2,000) to accommodate another 8,000 discs:

The ad seems short on details - and it is weird that it says "The labels pictured below" but there are no labels pictured below. Then he says "The labels pictured below are samples of the types that are included - the actual record may not be here" so he is referring to photos that he didn't include of records that may not be in the collection? Seems fishy. I'd advise any prospective buyer proceed with caution.

I've heard of a guy in Canada offering a massive 78 rpm collection who ends up scamming collectors (takes a deposit to "hold" while buyer arranges transport, then disappears).

I hope this ad is legit and someone gets a great collection - but buyer beware!

The ad originally included pictures of a bunch of labels, but they were later taken down, maybe because the seller realized that they were pointless unless they showed some of the actual records for sale. I think you are right to advise caution. I would definitely not put any money down in advance.
