The store started, what 1982 or something? A whole in the wall two friends opened because there was a.good punk scene in Omaha. Wonderful guy, and his wife was really nice too. Anyone who went to Monster Club will tell you the food and drinks were average at best. Upstairs were the records.but they cut the inventory of albums and merch.by about.3/4. Steady patrons were not happy about that. In place.of more.records they put in a coffee wine bar and a small place for people to hang out but I never saw people hanging out there. Personal opinion: have a big food draw like a great low price monster burrito, keep the records and minimize the coffee bar, or find a way to promote it to get young people to come.

I got my first taste of punk at the original Sounth Omaha location, have many memories localizing the downtown locations (all 3! ) during my H.S. years, and have many records, buttons, t-shirts etc in my collection originating from this shop. Original owners Mike and Liz were vital to the development of a punk scene in Omaha and were always approachable, cool, interesting, fun people. Drastic seems to have ed the mountain of casualties from this incredible piece of American culture, which seems doomed to obscurity or being completely forgotten. I already feel like a ghost many days as I think of the 99% of friends from the scene I have who died long ago from od's or suicides. Its depressing to realize this, especially in light of the mediocre, bland, and sub-culture free pastiche American culture has become since the dominance of the internet in every facet of life. Freedom, originality, and underground cool are all sacrifices to our digital overlords - new overlords I, for one, do NOT welcome.
Drastic Plastic you are sorely missed, as are the rest of the glorious freaks and rare crazies of those too distant days - although you are in much better company on the other side of that line and I shall soon y'all I hope - have a party raging at Mike No-Walls for my welcome home in progress when I arrive please.
With love to all my long missed freaks, punks, weirdos, and misfits of the Mild Kingdom.

nothing more 'full circle' for me than having bought multiple albums from their original DP record store in South Omaha that they have now reissued on the DP record label. I have about a dozen of their vinyl releases and all are top of the mark quality. as of this posting in 2023, you can also dine at the Monster Club restaurant they opened and then go upstairs to their vinyl lounge to shop for records.
          ----------------------
addendum...unfortunately, all DP operations have come to a sudden halt. the record label, vinyl lounge and restaurant are all permanently closed.

Picked up a few Birthday Party reissues. Very happy with the quality of the pressings and sleeves.

My only complaint is that the hype stickers come nowhere close to pealing. Bugs me when I cannot remove a sticker without ruining it. Please use higher quality removable stickers in the future if at all possible. Love to keep the write-ups and graphics on these hype stickers for my collection.

Probably a pretty niche thing but many other labels have opted to use peal-able stickers for this very reason (some even labeled as such).

I mostly agree with what the previous comment has stated. I pretty much hands down love this label. However, there are a couple things that get me. The Damned, Damned Damned Damned album sounds like it's pressed from digital, same goes for the Love & Rockets s/t album. Those are the only two albums that sound off to me thus far. And I do sometimes have warpage issues with their color vinyl. But over all I'm pretty much happy with almost everything I pick up from these guys.
