Another great print of "Soul in Vinile"! It sounds really good, precise and wide. The powerful but not overflowing bass is the master, but the stage is all heard.
-
This press was actually my first ever colored vinyl, and I was curious if it was going to have surface noise, but it doesn’t.

Newer reissues of these titles may sound good but they don’t hold a candle to these early 1980s remasters by John Matousek. Some of the Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye reissues from this period are now selling for a lot on the secondary market but a few classic J5, Diana Ross, Supremes, Miracles, etc albums are a bargain atm. -

This was also released in the US in the 1970s on cassette with a hard plastic case. -

Edited one year agoEven though the "Jackson 5's" first album (Diana Ross presents The Jackson 5), was considered a classic, it still had a lot of filler....That is not the case with "ABC"!!!!! In my opinion, this is their best album as "The Jackson 5".....In fact I would call it one Big Crown Jewel....
Even though I feel like it should have started with the "Title Cut", I am not mad that it started with "The Love You Save"....Both were massive hits!!!!
Even the so called minor hits in "The Young Folks" and "I Found That Girl" sounded like major hits.....With "I Found That Girl", it was good to see "Jermaine" have a lead spot on the album (I believe it also sparked "Motown" to set him up as a solo artist just like "Michael")....
Just like the first album, they had a lot of covers, but unlike the first album, the covers sound like they could have belonged to the group....
I usually apply the "Stevie Wonder Rule", but with "Don't Know Why (I Love You)", it sounds like it was tailor made for the Brothers....
" La-La Means I Love You" also fits them well, even though it has nothing on "The Delfonics" version...
Also "I'll Bet You" (Written by DR. Funkenstein himself, "George Clinton"), brings the "Funk" out of them!!!! You can tell that "Tito" enjoyed playing his Funky Guitar on this one!!!!
I will say that with "Never Had A Dream Come True", I will apply the "Stevie Wonder Rule"....
Besides that only hiccup though, this is an excellent album by "The Jackson 5"....And even though they were able to continue to knock it out the park, this album alone to me cemented their rich legacy..... -

Really nice reissue. The pressing is quiet and clean. The sonic clarity is nicely reproduced here. Good separation and evenly mixed spectrum on this 50+ year old collection. Worth grabbing if the price is right. This is a 2022 RSD release.
