Ulver – Flowers Of Evil

Is it just me who hears the high tones being cut off?

This album is a dark, synth-pop masterpiece. Even though Ulver is very different from Depeche Mode, I think fans of DM will like a lot. The masterful vocals of Rygg are as usual very distinctive and his phrasing of some words adds emphasis and drama that would not occur to other singers. The religious references don’t bother me at all as this is on the House of Mythology label.
No throwaway tracks, perfect from start to finish.

This looks something like marble silver as the photo shows. Mine it’s also marble silver.

Total crap. It’s hard to believe that the band Ulver used to be known for some of the best Norway had to offer. This is a waste of vinyl and trees. I listened to side A, laughed to keep from crying, put it back into its sleeve and then walked down to the local shop and donated it to the dollar bin. Avoid this unless you like horrible pop music with bad vocals.

Awesome crisp sound only Ulver can deliver with an amazing pressing and production.

The music is awesome, I personally loved the turn Ulver took this time. I guess even them need to get out of the dark for a while. But I must say that this particular pressing does not sound good to me. Maybe I got a defective one. It sounds muffled, "far away". None of my other records sound like this.

My blue copy has serial number 884388160989 . Was there a repress?

So, the wolves have finally lost their bite. Not bad, just not necessarily very interesting either.

Pretty quiet pressing. Sounds pretty good, but nothing revelatory as far as sound goes. Obviously I think this album is fantastic.
