The Supremes – Stoned Love

Why is the release date 1971? When it states 1970 on the photo of the record.

After getting the EMI-Bovema "Floy Joy" and J 5 "ABC" both of which are sadly very mono
can no longer trust the text on sleeve or labels this needs to be played and its sonics confirmed

As ever not to be let down, though sadly just the USA radio edit and not the full 4:04 original mix, this is naturally pressed in it's as recorded Stereo mix. in Holland Bovema's case EMI does not mean "Every Mistake Imaginable".........but more like "Every Mono Ignored"

Forget all the other 27 *versions* this is THE only pressing that anyone could ever want
(excluding the LH die-cut?? This is Spain NOT the USA oh well!)
As this lovely release is the full album version with the all important and introductory intro and instrumental bridge in the middle running at 4:05. That was savagely butchered by Motown to keep USA Radio happy. and released needlessly in other territories as that butchered edit and in vile mono!

This was the Supremes (2) featuring Mary Wilson's establishment and acceptance recording and it just kicks, the full realisationment and hair on the back of the neckness only really hits the spot with the must have stand alone release from Spain. Flawless and Faultless . The Funk Brothers working a class tune for a class act.

Note the demo copy carries a Y prefix on the matrix infering a Stereo pressing ALL the commercial UK pressings EMI, RCA and RCA-BMG are sadly 100% mono. Sadly most of the Supremes (2) featuring Mary Wilson singles including their duets with the 4 Tops all great classic gems are mono! Stoned Love, You Got To Have Love In Your Heart, Up The Ladder To The Roof, Floy Joy, etc etc>>>>>

As with the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson 1969 - 1974 UK EMI-Tamla Motown singles most were crazy mono pressings>>> Who was the monophile at EMI and or Abbey Road?

The Very much smaller and smaller budget EMI divison in the Netherlands (EMI-Bovema) have all their Tamla Motown singles from late 1969 in StereO clearly a total embarrassment to EMI Manchester Sq, and clearly the Label manager in Holland knew his stuff and had records pressed that would be superior in every way!

IE If this demo is Mono don't worry the EMI-Bovema Netherlands release is StereO.
