I never understood the glowing reviews of To Pimp A Butterfly vinyl mastering (not the album - just referencing the sound quality of the vinyl). It sounded underwhelming and compressed.
However, this here is a different story. Very important album for me but was holding off thinking the mastering would be same as what’s on Spotify (similar to TPAB). Wow, I was wrong.
This record is dynamic, punchy, deep and wide. The bass sounds focused and deep whereas the bass on TBAP sounds boomy and a bit muddy. Vocals are clear and the sound design sounds amazing.
Records came a bit warped but otherwise it was noiseless. -

THICK record, maybe even 200g? Sound is crisp and clean. If only every big label release had the same attention to detail! Hot take: Kendrick's best album ;)

Everything about this release was done perfect. The alternate art on the back is a great touch, and the credits within the gatefold are done in such a unique way. The records themselves sound amazing, I've been playing them for years and it is one of the cleanest sounding albums in my collection!

Fantastic pressing, excellent soundstage/imaging, and pretty amazing clarity through low, mids, and trebles. I wish Kendrick Lamar's vocals were boosted in the final vinyl mix instead of the bass being so prominent, but I guess a good EQ might be able to balance things out.

Production is mindblowingly good, no surface noise/distortion
