Edited 10 months agoFantastic 12” 45rpm pressing of this beautiful song that still holds up after 40 years later and maybe even resonates more in this restless world. This 9 1/2 minute version of “The Power Of Love” is absolutely THE version to get! It’s has a huge soundstage, dynamic and very colourful detailed mix. It’s simply transcending and probably Holly Johnson’s golden vocal moment! The B-side is a fun collage of the band mostly fucking around to make a Christmas message for their fans back in 1984 sandwiched between musical interludes of “The World Is My Oyster” and the instrumental climax and outro of “The Power Of Love”. It’s cute but it’s the A side you’ll want to play over and over again.

Edited 11 months agoExtraordinary. Two stabs below by someone writing a Discogs review but still nothing said about the actual pressing and quality of this particular issue. Everything but, in fact! LOL. For those Discogers interested in such things, this is a great pressing, typical of the time of course, with sweet packaging that has lasted the years well though the envelope is prone to ringwear.
A quality issue. Having said that, I think the white gatefold version with the b&w photocards is even more decadent and lavish. Plus it has the awesome 'pleasurefix' mix of Welcome To The PleasureDome included on it as an added treat. -
This masterpiece is 36 years old and even in 2020 when I listening to on my turntable it still gives me chills. Absolutely gorgeous and timeless " The Power Of Love" they just do not make them this anymore.

I have always loved this excellent song by Frankie Goes To Hollywood ever since it came out i 1984 & topped the UK pop charts at #1. The music video is one of the best IMO ever made on planet earth. A holiday song, but not really a Christmas song per se. The video is currently in heavy rotation all over the UK music video channels.
