Notes
This picture disc was withdrawn after being pressed because the artwork, Madonna sucking a toe, was too close for comfort to an August 1992 news story of a royal (Sarah Ferguson) pictured having her toe sucked by her financial advisor by a swimming pool. All copies were taken from Orlake, where it was pressed, back to the head office to be destroyed. It is rumoured that 1 copy was taken from each box, of 138 boxes, and the rest destroyed. Fact is that copies were sold from the offices to a Liverpool record dealer, who sold them on to collectors and dealers, and it's highly unlikely one was taken from each box, more likely quite a number of boxes were just sold off, and the others destroyed.
Incidentally, the same dealer sold a backing card from the original disc to the guy who made the counterfeit!
Various counterfeit versions exist, which can be told apart from the official issue as a genuine "Erotica" picture disc:
1) carries a gold backing card, with the official "Madonna/Erotica" logo in the top-left corner. Counterfeit copies are usually missing this backing card.
2) has a white rectangular box containing its catalog # directly below the Maverick logo on the vinyl itself. Counterfeit copies are missing this box.
3) has "Orlake W0138TP" etched in the run-out groove of the vinyl. Counterfeit copies are missing these matrix etchings.

das mit dem Händler aus Liverpool kann ich bestätigen. Er hat die Platte auch auf deutschen Plattenbörsen für 750 DM angeboten. Ich meine es wäre Ende 1992, Anfang 1993 gewesen.

Edited 2 years ago5000 pound for this pic disc I'm not being funny madonna fans but I wouldn't give a pound for it not the best madonna track by a fact
-
I have the original record it has never been played always stored in a safe place as an investment
It appears to be valued around £5700 at the moment is it time to sell or will it’s value increase in the coming years??? -

Although I've had the original withdrawn version for years, I'm glad to see this finally getting the release it deserved in 1992

Too much misinformation on this thread. The picture disc was pressed by Orlake who pressed a lot of vinyl including specials. The discs were delivered in one pallet to Waner Music Alperton the distribution centre. There they were very quickly quarantined which included a security guard watching the pallet. The reason for this was that the image was taken from Madonnas Sex book of her sucking Naomi Campbell's toe. Copyright clearance for this had not been and could not be obtained. It had nothing to do with Fergie.
Somewhere between 3-4 boxes were taken by the Stock control manager to go to Warner Music Kensington . Why would one be taken from every box? No rational or logical reason to do that, it didn't happen. Subsequently the balance of the picture disc pallet was taken on its own , a highly unusual situation, to Grundons near Heathrow to be destroyed under close supervision. I worked as part of the management team in the warehouse . -
