IDK Why people think the US version is better, i mean i know its preferrence and so but i just think the EU version is better, not sure why, just like the sound more.

Edited 4 years agoThat's why you've not heard the untitled b3 cassette track, my friend....
For me, one of the best in Orbital career.

I honestly like the Belfast version with the vocals, adds more to it but I like both versions anyway, lol.

Edited 6 years agoFor some weird reason top material like Open Mind and Choice (especially the Eye & I mix) got stuck on single b-sides while F303 and Steel Cube Idolatry was included on the album. High Rise and Desert Storm are also rather sub-standard material (for Orbital), why weren't the singles Omen & Satan included instead? [EDIT: It took me some time to realize that The Möbius is actually Omen in disguise!] The Mutations remixes of Speed Freak and Oolaa are superior to the originals included here, and so is Chime Crime far the best version of Chime. Alas, in hindsight this album's shining lights are Midnight and Belfast.
The Untitled exclusive track on the cassette version is really good, I wish they had included that on all formats. I spoke with Paul Hartnoll before one of the shows during their 2018 tours, and he told me that it was down to the song being "unfinished" at the time. -

An unremarkable debut - some nice ideas but masked with a bland, washed out production sound (reminiscent of 808 State's 'Gorgeous' - I think they both used B.A.S.E.)

Edited 10 years agoThis album wasn't titled "Orbital 1", "Orbital" or "Green Album". The title was "LP/CD/MC". "Orbital" was the title of the second LP. "LP/CD/MC" sounds exactly as it did in 1991! (sic) Which style is it? Electro? Single tracks "Satan", "Choice" and "Omen" is omitted. They were maybe more in the style of later Orbital output. "Chime", "Midnight" and "Belfast" is there. Check out the two "Mutations" EP's for remixes from the album by Moby, Dave Angel, Ray Keith, Joey Beltram, Meat Beat Manifesto, Dave Angel and Dave Dorrell, and Orbital themself. The LP, CD and MC had different "hidden" tracks.

Edited 10 years agoClassic Techno album containing "Belfast" one of the best end of the club night tunes ever - Most of this music is very much of it's time so maybe some of this sounds a little dated, especially to the younger listener. It's not the most engaging of sounds, but I still like it.

A revolutionary album at the time, but I must it that now it sounds very dated, uncreative, and at times, boring. I think that Orbital's Brown Album has aged much more effectively, as interesting now as it was back then, and although the original Orbital, the funky techno Orbital, is more accurately displayed on this release. I'd definitely recommend this, because you may or may not like it - just keep in mind the year this was made in.
