I might be in the minority here, but I have the 2x12” instrumentals on purpose. I love what Madlib does.
I can appreciate all the MC’s he works with. I dig that too, but not just hearing , but listening to just Madlib...It’s more like progressive Jazz. Fuckin far out ! -
Which pressing has the runout 214150E1/A on LP1 side 1? Just got this pressing and don't see that runout mentioned anywhere but I may have overlooked it.

Edited 4 years agoIf you were a teenager when this came out and consuming hip hop like a ravenous hobo, this album holds a special place in your heart. I still think it stands on the same level as most golden age hip hop, while bridging the gap towards some of the more unusual sampling experimentation of the new millennium. Classic.

Absolute masterpiece, the bible of sampling and one of the most complete and innovative Hip Hop album of all time (if not the most). Madlib is one of the best rapper/producer ever graced this world.
A must have for any real digger and music lover.
Thank you Otis Jackson Jr.

From Sweetback to that weird 1970's French animated movie "La Planete Sauvage," Madlib blends the obscure with new-age West Coast underground production--aided by the blunted and whimsical rhymes of Quas. One of Stones Throw's most important releases.
