I bought this album from Target last week. The pressing was horrible...skips, clicks and pops...the edges were sharp and rough. I took it back to Target and they said they would only do an exchange which I did not want (after reading the Target reviews of the album). I finally was able to receive store credit. I can't believe they are selling this. Very very poor quality.

Edited 2 months agoHas anyone who bought this pressing recently have any opinions about the quality? Reviews on Targets site are mainly from 2/3 years ago and complain about skips and pops but I’m not sure if that’s due to the prevalence of suitcase players
EDIT: halfway listening through this pressing. The complains about audible surface noise are valid, while I’ve heard significantly worse at a higher prices (Walmart Exclusive version of STP’s Core is the first and main one that comes to mind), at the current price offered by Target, there are far worse sounding (modern) pressings sitting out on shelves right now. I hesitated purchasing this version because of the reviews on the site complaining about constant clicks/pops and skips. But I really have only noticed some minor clicks/pops and have had 0 skips. I’ve come to the conclusion that’s it’s probably cheap players and needles amplifying issues with the player itself rather than the pressing (although the pressing isn’t doing it any favors). At under 18 dollars, the color is nice and the pressing is serviceable enough to be worth a pick up, but if you already own this album or want an purely audiophile experience, it’s best to look elsewhere -
No issues on my end with noise or skips. I'm also coming off my greatest hits vol I from 1981 that sounds much worse, so I may be biased towards this newer pressing by default. Zero skips. Sounds great. No pops after just a dry cleaning. Flat. That's a in my book.
Everybody, make sure your turntables are level. If you're getting skips on this release, it's not the vinyl's fault. -

Edited one year agoI have had 2 copies of this now and both have been horrible pressings with lots of crackle and pop right brand new out of the sleeve. Very disappointing pressing.

Edited one year agoI don’t mind some surface noise from an old weathered vinyl, but a new one is a little annoying even after cleaning multiple times. It also has some scratches, one of which is deep. I would have returned it to Target again but I had already done so once before and they jerked me around. It does sound great though. At least a lot of other people had a better experience.

Got this for super cheap ($17.49) and it sounds pretty great! I think Side D sounds a bit distorted by the end, however the rest of the album sounds great. If you can find it for that price, it's totally worth it

Two copies have had exactly the same surface noise beginning at about 5-10 seconds before the end of C4 and continuing into the runout.

I always use The Show Must Go On as a benchmark on this album to test the press, as Freddie’s range, Brian and the guys with a loud orchestra backing, as such I can say this is a superb press. Clear, dynamic and a very nice press. On my record player it looks almost metallic blue. Lovely. One of the best modern presses of this greatest hits.
