This is a criminally overlooked album in the wings cannon. It’s in my top 5 McCartney/wings albums along with band on the run, Venus and Mars, McCartney and Ram.

Edited 10 years agoIs this music as important as any Beatle record? Hell no. But I must confess, this is full of engaging Sir Paul 'fluff'. 'Big Barn Bed' and 'Get On the Right Thing' are better rock/pop songs than either 'Helter Skelter' or 'Birthday'. 'My Love' is still a catchy pop tune. McCartney uses the simplest chords, but he's unusually good at melody lines. I even like the hokey medley on the 'B' side.
'When the Night' sounds like forties' nostalgia. 'Simple Pigeon' sounds familiarly like the Mama and the Papa's 'Words of Love'. 'Loup (First Indian on the Moon)' and 'Little Lamb Dragonfly' are truly stupid. Of course, I'd realized by this time that McCartney's creative peak was years behind him. Some may cite 'Band on the Run' as a classic album. In its own way, maybe it is. But it's no 'Revolver', and I don't think pop music culture EVER truly recovered its interestingness nor its 'importance' since the day the Beatles broke up.
