Absolutely marvelous stuff. Soft, muted and synthetic. However, unlike FAR too many Progressive Rock pieces, this is not only truly progressive in its nature, evidently intended as a full and compositional work; it is also freshly simultaneously both not overly vocalized and not influenced seemingly at all by Jazz-Fusion. Synthesizer, joyous Organ (O that my most beloved and despairingly forgotten instrument), keys and pedals of all sorts abound upon this splendid work.
Germ Patrol is a light and airy introduction to the piece, leading into the commendable and highly transient “Wind Quartet 1”, which alongside 2 is my favorite Track on the album. I can’t recommend the album more. It’s fantastic for times of playing a fantasy or role-playing game, as well as reading/studying times and cooking. Really one feels motivated to experiment and find new ideation within this albums durations. Fascinating.
Favorite Tracks: Wind Quartet 1 & 2

Edited 5 years agoExcellent sounding pressing of Egg’s 3rd album which was sadly only recorded after they had split up. Charming in places and eccentric in others, unconventional time signatures a plenty and some wonderful playing by guest musicians on Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet and Flute. Not to mention the exceptional talents of Brooks, Campbell & Stewart on their respective instruments. If you like Prog and especially the more laid back Canterbury scene style then grab a copy if you can. You won’t be disappointed.
