Flat, quiet vinyl. A beautiful record, musically, in of recorded sound, and as a physical object with a nice tip-on gatefold. The English translation of the notes make the bizarre claim that the Attica prison riot took place in San Quentin prison, but the original French notes get it right. We are told that these are excerpts from the concert that was given back in 1974; it would have been nice to hear the whole thing, but anyone who is open to the music Shepp was making at this time in his career will love to hear this record.

Edited one year agoThis is a hell of a smoking hot recording and performance. They did a really nice job with this one and I highly recommend it to any Shepp lover. There is a nice sense of space to the recording you feel like you are in the auditorium with them performing live.
