Righto, I'm here to set the record straight on this here straight record pressing.
Jacket - Thick, solid, straight, high quality
Inner sleeves - Square antistatic poly, not cheap paper, straight.
Pressing - Flat, well centered, clean, quiet and straight.
Sound quality - Punchy, clean, open, balanced, tight, clear, surprisingly dynamic considering how much music is fit on these slabs of wax, grooves run close to labels yet sound quality doesn't suffer from Inner groove distortion.
And straight.
I couldn't be happier with this pressing, it's straighter than straight. -
Most recent repress has audible issues on side B... sounds absolutely awful. All the other sides sound good.

Edited one year agoI’m pleasantly surprised and borderline shocked at how good this sounds. Vinyl is flat and silent.
Marantz TT-15S1 with Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony MM cart.
Sansui AU-8500
Vandersteen 2ce Signature II
This is restocked in the SST superstore.

Edited one year agoI’ve been looking for this album since forever. Finally grabbed one from Juno (sold out immediately again) Have some pops and clicks on side D but not a big issue actually. I’m a happy camper. What a band, what an amazing album.

gatefold feels nice to hold, sounds very punchy. definitely the way to hear the album. and for once this hasn't sold out in 5 seconds! it is still in stock at SST.

Edited 12 months agoThis pressing doesn't have the car engine sound on side 2; not a huge deal but interesting (realized later side 2 is off-center as well, at least my copy). Sides 3 and 4 have the same deadwax etching as earlier presses. Side 1 has "RE-1" and side 2 has "RE-2"

Bought a used copy of this great album. I have never heard it on vinyl and was not expecting much, but it blew me away. I have never heard it sound so good. Clear, punchy, quiet. A++

While randomly checking the SST website on Jan.1 (looking for that Stains reissue!), I noticed THIS was available (it wasn't in stock just before Christmas!) for $32.99 and I ordered it; it was 'out of stock' as of Jan.3 and seems to be unavailable once more.
It arrived today, and I feel like I won the lottery: thick tip heavy gatefold jacket with beautiful art; very clean, heavy (might even be 180g?) vinyl; and phenomenal sound that blows away my mid-80s pressing (not to mention CD versions I have come across). It was, in short, everything a deluxe reissue SHOULD be-- except widely available or well publicized (or publicized at all...).
While the randomness of availability is galling (and I concede that I was especially lucky this time), I wonder whether we all might start cutting Mr. Ginn some slack and give credit where credit's due? In this case, he seems to have done some justice to a fundamental part of the SST back catalog, and I've had similar luck with direct orders from SST (in particular reissues of Bad Brains, Black Flag, and Saint Vitus) in recent weeks... -
Mine has a thick tip on gatefold jacket and sounds phenomenal. I had a Rainbo pressing and it was full of non fill, almost unlistenable. This is the pressing to get.
