Didn’t know I needed this album, and once again VMP delivers. Get this for the bass and drums alone. Amazing pressing, and after listening to it for close to a year, I’d consider an essential to anyone’s collection.
-
My copy had a skip in one of the songs from the first play, I got a replacement from VMP and that too had a skip on it from the first play, I have no confidence in this company's pressings anymore, I've had too many duds from them.
Stick with the Music On Vinyl pressing if you want a good copy. -
Damn, I'm always a bit skeptical about discogs reviews but this record sounds truly amazing, drums and bass are a marvel to listen, it's all so fresh and powerful!

One of if not the best-sounding records Vinyl Me Please has ever done. Great recording, mastering, pressing, packaging.

Really nice. This is the only VMP release I have that doesn't have a full-gloss cover but there is spot gloss lettering on the front and back and the vinyl looks awesome when you shine a blacklight onto it... talk about neon. WOW.! Fantastic album and definitely an "essential". Mine is flat with no pops or crackles. I guess I got lucky. It sounds GREAT. I have no other copy to compare it to, but my ears say, "Thank You".

Edited 2 years agoThink I'm in the minority here that's not really impressed by this pressing. I have the MOV pressing to compare. While this one is much louder and in a sense fuller, it just sounds overly compressed and muddy imo. The MOV press has much better separation and just sounds more natural. There's also low level surface noise throughout on this VMP press. I got sent a replacement copy and same issue, so leads me to believe it's an issue with the pressing altogether. All around a decent pressing, but I wouldn't call this an audiophile pressing by any means. Worth picking up if you want the album for cheap though

I A-B tested this pressing with the VMP Reissue.
Pros of VMP:
High quality jacket,
Colored vinyl (I figure if you're getting a reissue it might as well be colored)
Quiet vinyl (no pops or crackle anywhere)
Cheaper
Pros of Orig (in Ex+ condition)
Incredible bass (heavy punch, super crisp)
Instrument separation (Will vary depending on setup, but for mine, I could distinctly hear the congas in one place and the backup vocals somewhere else, whereas the VMP sounded great but was a flatter sound overall.
Takeaway:
If you can afford an Orig in decent shape, go for it. If you can't, get the VMP over a beat orig, because this record is amazing and deserves to be heard in it's full capacity, which I believe the VMP reissue attains very well. Both are great releases. -
