Edited 13 years agoAnother pinnacle of darkside Jungle, ranking alongside reinforced releases of the period. Though Geralds is a very individual take on the sound, that steers clear of formula and cliches,he's clearly in a class of his own. Too fucked to dance? after listening to this you'll be too fucked to do much! So disted and atonal is the sound, that at times I just take it off the deck and skip to rather bouncier sounds of 'this is the right time'! . But when your in the mood, and you want dark, then this EP will satisfy! 'Darker than I should be' with its polyrhythmic excess is typical of Geralds rather 'african' use of rhythms,a direction he continued on further JB releases, especially 'Nazinji-zaka'. My fave is Anything v.2.1,with its jaunty stabbing synths and faintly Arabic vibe! Gerald liked to work world rhythms into his take on this usually very London-centric sound!
