Edited 8 months agoThis LP costs a fair bit on vinyl online where available(usually in the hundreds)so I opted for this cd version via ebay for a reasonable £10 after listening to it on youtube.
I`d never heard the tracks before the youtube listen but fell in love with this gem of an album.
Here`s a little extract from wiki...
......The Black Album. Dubbed The Funk Bible by preceding press releases, and in a hidden message within the album itself, the work seemed to be a reaction to criticism that Prince had become too pop-oriented. It was his attempt to regain his black audience.
As soon as I heard it it reminded me of Morris Day and The Time funk band,the one in the movie "Purple Rain" by Prince!
So if you loved Morris Day and The Time in that movie you`re in for a treat here as this sounds similar & will have you dancing or nodding your head to all the wonderful tracks.
Highly Recommended ESPECIALLY since it's so expensive on vinyl,thank you for reading.
