Bellini is an absolute tune, tough as f**k.
Marching beats, growling techy distortion, bleepy swirling synth and a bassline to pump yer chest.

Edited 4 years agoI bought this solely for Bellini, absolutely loving its atmospheric yet techy Headz vibes and its amazing progression. Never would've thought True Romance would become the classic it is today, but together they make up for an absolutely timeless 12"

Bought this record for True Romance initially, but after hearing Bellini, my mind instantly shifted. The off beat drums, synths and atmosphere created defo creates more emotions than True Romance ever does. And the bassline is killa on a big sound system!

D-Bridge on "Bellini/True Romance":
“It was always about ‘Bellini’ for me, that was the song Goldie lost his shit over. But then ‘True Romance’ is the one a lot of people mention. It came together quite quickly. I’d come back from Fabio’s night at The End and there was a guy there called Marlon who quoted this phrase ‘aggressively beautiful’. I pinched it from him. That pretty much summed me up. With Steve I did all this beautiful stuff and with BC I’d done all this aggressive stuff. I was trying to find a way to meld the two together and I’m still trying to do that, contrast of light and dark.
“‘Bellini’ was a bit of a love song for my missus at the time. ‘True Romance’ was just something we had for the B-side. It was an important release after the split of BC because, again, I was in this sort of limbo. Thankfully I’d bought some equipment by then. I was wondering what I wanted to do. I didn’t really feel the music in the side of the rave I was coming from. I felt more of a connection with what was happening with Creative Source and Calibre, probably because of working with Steve and the soul in his music.
This release helped cement me as someone who can make different styles. Fresh had left BC by this point and I was still working with Maldini and Vegas. They wanted the 12” to go out under the name BC and I said no. Vegas helped me so he had his name on there but that was it. It caused problems at the time but I felt I needed to get out on my own.”
Quote taken from an interview for FACT mag, I guess it is interesting to read what DBridge says about this classic release.
In my opinion both tunes are amazing, as Dbridge said himself, something perfectly balanced between uncompromising )EIB('s roughness and DBridge's unique sense of beauty and sensitiveness.
Essential, one of the best dnb releases ever! -
True Romance. 12 years later and I'm still not tired of this tune. Dare I say, it's the only true D&B classic we've seen since it was released.

Edited 12 years agoI everyone raving about this before i had even heard it and i just assumed it would be another tune which is forgotten about within a few weeks! How wrong was i! 'True romance' is one of those tune's which you will never get tired off. The track itself is a nice soothing roller with lush strings but the bassline is a monster from another galaxy! It's a growler and one that makes this track wanting to be on your play list each & every time. Buy this on sight.

Edited 18 years ago"True Romance" is a minimal roller that has quite a bit of staying power. The tune starts out rather quietly and the crisp drums begin step up in intensity, but never get extremely heavy. The bassline is the nasty part of this track. Great production work here. Fits into many of sets. "Bellini" is another little futuristic and nasty roller. Pure quality from D-Bridge/Vegas and the Headz.
