Sounds amazing all the way! Great depth, and full range sound and impact from percussion. Brass/horns super clear and rounded without a piercing edge.
A cheap sleeper of an album that you should get, there's not a dud on here. Title track is just so luscious! -
Edited 9 years agoA I see, I got this version with the SP-4790 numbering and the UPC code, also got a round black sticker with the red Rise word (used on the single). Thus, I notice that both cover and label got the dash on the cat#, only on the sticker that dash is missing.

Edited 11 years agoAll tracks but A1 were recorded on a 3M-32 track digital machine. ( http://mixonline.com/TECnology-Hall-of-Fame/1978-EM-Mastering/ ), and then transferred to analog for editing. The 3M machine 32 input channels at a 16-bit 50KHz sampling rate to 3M 1-inch digital tape. 3M didn't find the available 16-bit ADC/DACs (if there were any in 1978) to be suitable, and so they used two DACs-- a 12-bit and an 8-bit for 16-bits effective bit depth.
Piece of recording history here. Not THE first, but one of.
