It is said that advanced Tantra adepts smoke hashish as part of their intense meditative, yoga and sexual practices in order to increase the speed of body arousal, awareness and therefore illumination. It is a dangerous thing as one easily mislead and fall into blinding oblivion, Obliterated by inner forces that may resemble true wisdom but completely lost and burned, but hey! Fortune favors the bold ain’t it? This is not for everybody, the left hand path is not for pussies.

So it is particularly curious that a so called “Stoner” band deals with Advaita Vedanta thematic, which is a very murky terrain where only very few people has dared to enter.
Fact is this music has very little to do with smoking pot and is in more close vicinity with a journey into the fiery realms of unorthodox spirituality, let’s call it the dark night of the soul.

Literally the term advaitic refers to non-duality, acknowledgement of the confusion that makes the self illusion of separation. Among the many practices and complicated rituals in these performances there is the utilization from mantras that work as effective tools to expel, introduce, generate or decay soul processes. Well, this is patented in here. This is not brainless rock music, there is something in here that resonates deep within and creates magma erupts and visceral tsunamis inside.

Among the plethora of bands that simply divert in the making of some music to accompany the fluent diversion for the potheads, here is someone who introduced something from the beyond.

And the abrahamanic cover isn’t misleading? Well, icons such as these, so commonly found in the orthodox Christiania from Greece and Russia guard more than one little dark secret, you know, not all these saints did things like praying or living in general by the standards for what today we consider “holy”, as a matter of fact many of these people could be plainly considered heretical if not heathen in their views and practices, for the most part they were left hand pathers.

Listen to the initial chorus line, a mantra that repeats over and over until the guitar enters and darkens everything with its low sonority and droning shadow, welcome to the trance zone from unorthodox spirituality my comrade, that is where Cisneros will take you into from there on. Advaitic songs could be considered a modern re-enactment of a powerful ritual into rock standards, not shallow, rather profound and way distinctive.

Deeper and deeper the formula of the album repeats, Sanskrit mantras enveloped by the guitar and spatious drum cadence, the pervading voice from Cisneros that appear as an omen recitation and the weight of a dense drone atmosphere from altogether things involved.
Listen closely, find the details involved, find the meaning of the mantras, you will be mindblowed by the findings.

No this is no Stoner music, and if it is intended for that purpose wait for the backlash that awaits you when you foresee for what is inside.

    Recommended for the intrepids!
