I have this records on another 2 original editions from my country, Argentina. The first one is a 67 MONO copy, and the second is a 72 reprint in STEREO. Both sounds great... but i'm amazed how this digitally source editions has more bass, great separation of instruments and a quiet vinyl pressing. I bogth used in almost NM and a more tha adecuate price. And also have the inners, the notes and the cut outs, that was not presents in any of my others copies. A recomended sound, and this is a life change récord.

My copy sounds phenomenal. Yes it’s mastered loud but I don’t have any distortion or pops or tics. Totally flat vinyl and a total bargain for the £20 it seems to be going for regularly. I have not heard the Mono but I can’t imagine it sounding better than this.

Sounds amazing. The bass is loud and clear, with good low end, crisp and clear sound overall. Very quiet as well with no audible surface noise.
Far sures the CD version of the same remaster -
Edited 10 months agoMy version is completely quiet flat and sounds amazing. For a modern pressing. What I like about this version is that A. It sounds better than the cd that it was sourced from (24/44.1) due to the mastering of the vinyk and that it is mastered from a uncompressed source- unlike the cd version.. B) The viny is dead quiet and flat. C) The Bass guitar is absolutely pounding D) They removed all the "sss" that are so prevalent on the original releases. That is good and bad. Good because of obvious reasons...bad because you lose some of the high end. Otherwise this is an awesome purchase for a new Beatles fan or for a play copy. Also the packaging is beyond reproach. Cover Inserts ex. If you are a Beatles fan who wants a really nice sounding copy..this is an excellent choice IMO. And I have many copies spanning different years. As a vinyl collector...who also listens to my vinyl...its cool to have the new version.
On a quirk- I had a Sgt Peppers day today.. I played my 1969 EMI One Box...My EAS Japanese version 1976 my 1976 Capitol and this one. I will say the above review remains the same..except I can say that IMO this 2012 version destroys the 1976 Capitol verison. Again this was a back to back comparison. -
Folks, BEFORE You List Your Copy For Sale, Please Double Check it! (mainly pertains to USA sellers, BTW)
If it mentions Capitol Records & Hollywood, CA in small green print on the hype sticker, just above the bar code, then it's a USA pressing, pressed at Rainbo Records and should be listed as such.
However, If it mentions EMI Records Ltd, "Marketed and distributed by EMI. Printed In The EU. UK " after it, it's pressed at Optimal in and is a EU/UK pressing and should be listed as that version.
If it says made in Canada, then it's a recent GZ, USA/Canadian pressing, similar to the original 2012 Optimal/Rainbo run, but obviously different and should be listed under that entry. Always double check before listing your copy and save yourself a possible return, plus buyers the frustration/disappointment of receiving the wrong version, because it was listed incorrectly. Pressing plants matter! :)
In conclusion, It'll always say the country of origin right on the back of the album, if you look hard enough, again, either on the front hype sticker, a small white rectangular sticker on the rear cover, or it'll be printed directly on the shrinkwrap itself, so please list it accordingly. 🙏 -
Wow, side 1 sounded good, warm and dynamic (although a little tame, or flat), with minimal surface noise. Now for side 2. Wtf. I've listened to 100s of vinyl and never heard peaked distorted audio like this. It sounds like it was mastered in the red. WYWY was unlistenble. Paul's voice in when I'm 64 distorts heavily on the high range of his vocals. Rita meter maid distorts on the piano solo terribly. An absolute shame. Now I don't know if this is indicative of the pressing on a whole of I just got a dud but either way this is going back to my local. Bought used for $25.

Edited 4 years agoHEEELLLLOOOOO!!!!!!
What are you complaining about "fake stereo"??
The 2009 files for all releases in this series are from the original stereo masters.
And there is no fake stereo on the Pepper's masters.
And:
If there is fake stereo somewhere on one of the files for another record, it's as it was meant to be. Period.
IMO, all these records sound great. The sound is different to the original cuts but not worse. More tonally balanced, more bass and more detail with a wider stage.
They were concerned about de-essing and they pushed that a bit too far. This and the more balanced frequencies can sound a bit dull in the first instance but this impression disappears soon.
I like to listen to all of them for a change.
And the European versions are very well pressed.
I never heard the US pressings, though. -
My copy is pristine, super quiet. Don't know how well this remaster compares, I hear the mono is better, but this sounds pretty good regardless.
-
Do not get this release, go for a better reviewed pressing instead. This is a "digital remaster" that sounds absolutely horrible, lots of clipping on peaks, fake stereo; a mess that doesn't translate well to vinyl.
