Edited 3 months agoSounds beyond incredible EXCEPT for Heard This Song Before, where a cartoonish amount of distortion takes over.

Edited 3 months agoIt's nice finally having a proper copy of this one. May be my favorite Smiths album, pretty solid throughout. Rhino did a great job with this particular reissue. No complaints.

Edited 3 months agoPicked this up recently and I’m guessing it’s this new version even though this entry is severely lacking any information outside the bar code. Made in sticker on the back. Raised “The Smiths” on the front. Grey (gray) titles on the back. Sounds pretty good.

Edited one year agoJust received a recent repress of this release. It sounds amazing. Purchased from Best Buy in the US and have seen it pop up on many other US sites. I believe this is no longer just a UK/Europe release and is now readily available in the US as well. No indications of it being an import. I also don't know if this is the same for all releases, but my copy has "THE SMITHS" in a embossed font.

Great sounding pressing - well balanced with hefty bass in the right areas.
Only slight drawback is the deadwax between tracks has this hum sound which is only present on this album, however it doesn’t affect playback - possibly a mastering fault.
Equipment used: Technics 1400MK2 - ATVM95SH cartridge - Pioneer A30 Amplifier - Klipsch Speakers -
I still hesitate between purchasing this Rhino re-release and looking for a 2nd hand original Rough Trade. This 2012 edition is the one remastered by Marr himself, isn't it?
-
Have to agree with the other comments here that this recording sounds amazing. Excellently balanced between Marr’s musicality and Morrisey’s melancholy… reccomended.

Extremely dynamic mix, and mastered beautifully for vinyl. The darker tones of the record really shine. Highly recommend.
