This is not only my favorite Incubus record but also one of my all time favorite 90s records. Super experimental and highly enjoyable technical rock music.
Sound quality is amazing during soft ages/verses - very dynamic and wide/deep. However, as soon as loud ages come in, everything gets brickwalled and the big/wide sound becomes flat. Unfortunately, this is what a lot of records from this era sounds like. However, overall it still sounds better than the CD I had and to what’s on Spotify/Qobuz.
Discs were flat and noiseless. -

I'm kinda new to this band as somehow they slipped through the cracks on me. Put on the headphones and gave it a first time ever listening. All I can say is WOW. A combo of RH, Trapt and Saliva is what I got out of it. An infectious groove with heavy riffs and funky sound effects. I can only catagorize this as Quirk Rock and I liked it alot. If you like something after one listening you know it's good. Sound quality was just right for me too. Only downside was side four is a throwaway. Don't ever care to listen to that again. Very Zappaesque. Would have been better off with an etching. I know, different is good and normal is boring. Other than that I loved the album.

Sounds pretty good. My only qualm is that the labeling for Sides C and D were switched around on my copy.

Edited 2 years agoQuality control on this is complete hell, bunch of dots on side C and D that thankfully dont cause noise but could on other setups. A lot of weird looking divets on side A that also dont cause noise but I feel could on other setups too. Sleeve is absurdly tight and one of the LPs had a folded inner which exposes a good portion of the LP but thankfully was undamaged. Definitely be careful when buying sealed copies of this. Anyone know if the MOV version is better? Mine sounded fine but not like, fantastic.
EDIT: Giving Side A a proper listen, this sounds better than I originally thought, definitely better than the CD, though a bit bassy. -
So stoked to own this on vinyl, and it sounds great! Now we just need the previous titles released on vinyl...
