Agree that this was really futuristic for 93, potentially the originator Tech Step tune. Great tune, great label.

Edited 6 years agoRebel Without A Draw is simply amazing. It sounds like most of the drum and bass I was buying from 2000 - 2003. Alpha Omega for sure as he used the same high pitched keyboard sound in many of his retro sounding tracks. This is actually the first time I heard that keyboard in an actual 1993 track. I always thought it sounded like this era, but never actually heard it used then. Also it sounds like most of the productions from Loxy, Ink, Dylan, and the Total Science guys from the 2000 era. Yet this track right here is from 1993 and it sounds like no other 1993 track, rather it sounds like those 2000 era drum and bass. Maybe all those fellas were trying to make tracks that sounded like DJ Kane - Rebel without a draw. Those guys really targeted this particular record. As for the track itself, its pretty darn futuristic. Its not just the two step drum and bass beats, that Total Science style Terrorize "ITs just a feeling" riff, and the alpha omega type riff. It's also got some great vocal sample work in the middle with the playful pitching down of the vocal "Roughneck". The only thing I don't like about this track is that the drums are panned mostly to the right for some reason. The flipside "Lost" is nothing that extraordinary, it sounds like every other dark track from 1993. An extra bonus with "Rebel..." is that you could easily place it in a set of 2001 drum and bass and you would never know the difference. I love this track.
