"Look at trees,
they don't bother nobody.
Let folks burn 'em, cut 'em,
paint 'em and use 'em
but they don't bother nobody…
That is, till money…
But like, whose fault is that?"

      Update: Bumped to RSD 2024

Now gone from the RSD Black Friday list for both the vinyl and CD releases. Did it get delayed or scrapped altogether? A shame, I was going to do what I previously never believed I would with pulling an all-nighter in line for this to be sure of getting it on hopefully both formats but without them then I'm sleeping in. EDIT: Notice on official RSD site states "REMOVED FROM THE LIST-- Will be coming at a later date

CD/vinyl reissues coming for RSD Black Friday via Culture Factory USA — don't know the label, but here's hoping it's a good one

There was a time when you could easily find mint copies of this on the cheap. Those days are over. I wonder if the master tapes are in good condition.

Desperately needs a decent reissue on vinyl and/or tape. All vinyl versions usually appear in crap condition.

Does anyone here by chance have just the gatefold cover of the original? I've got the original pressing but it's missing the cover :/ If anyone's got it, do please message me. Thanks in advance

This is a very warm-sounding, funky record, and not at all like winter in America, which is generally very cold and not at all funky!! I think "Summer in America" would have been a more befitting title, but unfortunately I was not around when Gil and Brian were picking the name for the record.

This might be just one of the best albums of the 70's - at the very least, it's one of the most touching. The parts that really get to me are the songs where it's just Jackson drenching the surroundings in that beautiful echoey classic Rhodes tremolo, making everything seem sweet and uneasy at the same time, while Gil delivers lyrics that are half prayer and half love song, in a voice I can only describe as "honest-sounding". Sad hopefulness or hopeful sadness? Whatever it is, it's painfully intimate. The whole album is such an experience.

That having been said, does anyone know of a good CD reissue of it? The one I recently bought (SNAF833CD from Charly Records) has quite a bit of hiss on it, and I'm sure that there must be better-sounding versions out there.
