Edited 7 years agoMy copy of this release has MASTERED BY NIMBUS in the matrix/runout, but does not have the C9873 number in there. It also has a Mastering SID code of IFPI L124. Wondering if what I have should be a new release? -
Edited 19 years agoGary Numan takes inspiration in equal parts from Philip K Dick and William Burroughs on this landmark sonic distopia. This record explores themes of alienation and isolation with lyrics far beyond the teenage angst that riddled like music then and now.
"Replicas" is replete with well-crafted and catchy pop songs that anticipated the "Bladerunner" future years before that movie was released.
The single "Down in the Park" was used in the soundtrack to the punk film "Times Square", released in 1980.
"Replicas" is a seminal work by a pioneering artist still making music today.
