This pressing is laughably better than the other pressings. Amazing depth, clarity and bass control. Prodigious bass without bloat, not an easy feat. Find someone with a copy and compare for yourself. You'll become a believer too.

Edited 6 years agoI have obtained and compared all of the supposedly “best” attempts at “Band...” on vinyl (the Original U.K. -1, and the U.K. -2 for that matter, the “CBS Mastersound”, the “25th”, the “EMI 💯”, and the more recent “Archive Collection”), and what can I say? It’s all in a name, the “Nimbus Supercut” wins the game.... Everything about this release is truly masterful; the quality of the pressing (dead silent), the replication of the original artwork and poster (maybe not “masterful” per say, but definitely on par), the extra protective inner, and most importantly, the mastering-it’s incredible! Did I say it’s incredible?! “Yes it is, yes it is, ooh yessssss it is”. I dare say this release bests the original U.K. -1 release, for the clarity, depth, and control that can be heard on this “Nimbus” cut is just astonishing. This is arguably the ultmiate version of “Band On The Run” on vinyl (although the U.K. -1 certainly sets the precedent), with no other reissue coming close (the U.K. -2’s sound a repress away from the clarity of the -1’s, the “CBS Mastersound”, although beautifully pressed with amazing separation and revealing detail, sounds way too thin, and was cut without the necessary preparations for half speed mastering, the “25th”, which is a blurred Goddamned disaster, with it’s only real worth being the exclusive bonus material, the “EMI 💯”, although an all analogue cut, has muddy results, and lastly the “Archive” edition, which settles as a nice reserved middle of the road attempt). This cut smokes all the others simply with it’s devotion to the authenticity of the original recording, and may even have the original U.K. release, well, “on the run”.
