well this is odd: first disc is lighter than disc 2. and disc 2 sounds warmer; far better mids. pretty sure disc 2 is cut on 180gm while the first one is not. anyone notice this discrepancy in their copy?

Sounds really good and so good to have this classic at a "classic " price . 24 bucks .
Sorry to say that I love the cover -
Dope release. No surface noise. Crisp and clear highs with tight, round, deep lows. Packaging is A+. One of the best sounding records I purchased this year.

This album is so good. One of my favorite hip hop albums of all times. I agree with what most have said. Very good sounding pressing. Nice flat, 180g vinyl. I also agree on the remixes… they are my least favorite songs in this album. For the jacket… I think people are being a bit picky. Yes the Original jacket is better in my eyes… the color… but this is a very nice gatefold, a bit different to celebrate 25th anniversary and the inner sleeves are polylined (is that how you say it?)
My side 4 came with a bubbly label.. you know when by defect two labels ore stamped on… I could peel it off and a good label was right under it.
I love this album and this pressing. -
I really like this pressing. To my ears on my system it sounds delightful, both highs and lows.
There’s lots of complaints about the album cover being iridescent. I don’t mind it at all. I think one of my favorite record covers is “Because the Internet” *because* the cover is iridescent. It’s a personal preference and I get that whomever made the call thought it would make the record just a little more special- obviously it missed the mark with some people. Regardless, the quality of the jacket is nice, as well as the inners.
Even more complaints about the remixes being included. I did the math- Side A is 20:53 long with B1 being 4:06 (not gonna cut it), Side B is 20:55 with C1 being 3:33. If you added D1 to the C side, you’re looking at 22:29 for the 5 tracks, which could be debatable as to whether you can fit the rest of the album on the C side, and if you did that leaves… an etched D side? You’re gonna have to compress that audio to make it all fit on 3 sides of a 2LP comfortably.
“Take Offs and Landings” did a neat D side on the 20th anniversary reissue where they included a secret track on the D side (one that was included on the CD, but not on vinyl to my knowledge) and made the runout in the middle of the record before a picture-disc image.
They could have spent some time trying to strong-arm that concept into this release. Or they could have done the easy thing and just given the listener more music, which is what they did. My two cents: I would rather have the remixes I might not care than have to flip the record over to listen to one last song. And I’ve never really been one for etched D sides, but can understand that some albums are only around an hour and are too long for a 1LP release and not long enough for two full LPs unless each side is only gonna be 14-16 minutes (which has been a complaint of MBDTF on 3LP when it’s only an hour and eight minutes. Just as you get comfortable you gotta get up and flip the record).
I’m not saying I have the answer and maybe I’m just playing devil’s advocate, but to me it’s obvious they were trying to do something special with this release, and I think they accomplished it. I get this release upset obvious purists, but that’s life and there are other pressings. The record sounds great, the jacket is nice, and you get a few bonus tracks. Take it or leave it. -
Better than my old 1LP version. Obviously 2LPs is going to have less noise than 1 and honestly levels are perfectly just under the limit on this new edition. No issues with background noise either.

FANTASTIC PRESSING! Almost nonexistent surface noise. Crisp and clear highs with tight, round, deep lows. Packaging is great too. Not sure why people don't like the iridescent cover, I think it's dope. Pallas did a great job with this one.
