Not sure how Parlophone ballsed this up. Looks to be pressed from the same metalwork from the original 1996 as all the other Air reissues have been which sounded great. Good on Air for keeping their vinyl masters / metalwork.
Please give us a black vinyl reissue pressed at Optimal as "Moon Safari" / "10 000 Hz Legend" were which sound amazing. -
Edited 7 years agoRSD at it's most insipid.
Take a record that you can find a NM/NM beautiful original copy of for around $20, press it on "WOO IT LOOKS SO PRETTY" vinyl, shove it in a PVC sleeve and flog it.
Seriously? The pretty splatter vinyl I can forgive. Hey, collectors might like that.
But a PVC sleeve? You know, those things that actively DESTROY VINYL?
Foot, meet shot. -
Edited 8 years agoTake it out of the hard PVC sleeve as soon as you buy it however by now it is probably too late. For me the A-side is nearly unplayable & the B-side not much better.
Sound quality is like a busted iPhone 3 playing a 96kbps under a mattress, this current push for non black pressings housed in hard PVC sleeves is ruining good music. -
Found this in the RSD leftover bin in my local store. Looks gorgeous. Plastic sleeve is a nightmare and stuck very forcefully to both sides of the record and charged it up with tons of static that my anti static brush couldn't handle. Made the whole album sound like grizzly AM radio. Did a quick discwasher spin and left it sit out over night. It's playing better. Won't be using that plastic sleeve again!
-
Fantastic record, but a terrible sleeve. Tight PVC that stuck to the record, and putting the record in a proper inner sleeve now barely fits inside without making a wrinkled mess of the inner sleeve.

Sold out in many of the RSD participating stores within the first hour.
This is a great release of our friendly purveyor's of fine French Electronica from Versailles.
The vinyl is quite hypnotic. It is very close to the pressing that was also made for Alanis Morrissette RSD release, they physically look almost the same.
