Just got my hands on a copy of this pressing for a steal, $2.00! I wasn't expecting much, but this has very little surface noise. Very quiet and wonderfully mastered pressing! I am glad I read through some reviews and chose to get an older copy instead of a recent reissue pressing. Absolutely beautiful piano arrangements and lyricism in this album. -

This first pressing is SO much better than any pressings that have followed it, even the DCC which comes in a close second place. But if you can find a VG+ to NM copy of this first pressing, grab it fast! It's beautifully recorded and benefits from Bernie Grundman's mastering from fresh master tapes. Vinyl in the early 70s can be a bit noisy, so expect some background noise regardless of the condition, but it's really only audible between tracks.

Edited 2 years agoClassic Joni. My 48 year old copy is quiet and mellow without sounding like mush. Maybe QC is the one advantage major labels had. Don't spend a lot for an old copy! They are out their by the millions! -
