Clear and crisp and no surface noise on my copy. Yes, it’s a bit bottom heavy but the Cure usually are and I like it. This sounds a whole lot better out of my nice speakers than it does streaming from my car or earbuds. I’m happy.

Direct comparison: slightly less dynamic than the original UK vinyl. Tonally, a bit less immediate; smoother / more recessed sounding, very similar to the WEA US CD. I'm not sure if this was analog or digital cut, but assuming digital, it was high-res - bandwidth to 48kHz+.
A solid alternative to the original press for a very affordable price.
My copy has no pressing issues. -
Edited 2 years agoLoud cracking and consistent surface noise throughout side 1. Every track. Might just be a bad apple but an anti static brushing and stylus cleaning did nothing to help it. I can tell it sounds great over it but the noise is too much. Side 2 much better.

Edited 2 years agoPurchased in 2023, but no hype sticker. Has additional line on back cover that says Made in Czech Republic. Only other difference I can find is: Matrix / Runout (Side B, stamped): 4787544-B 98319E2/E (instead of 98319E2/D)
Sounds great. -
The packaging is minimal but the sound is absolutely stellar. AAA sounding. Meant to be listened to on vinyl. All the positive reviews are on point. Nothing more to add here. And you could still get it on the cheap. No brainer if you're a fan at all of the band or post punk genre.

Pressed quietly, just a tinge of faint crackling (when I mean faint I mean VERY faint) in between tracks and in the lead-in groove, very punchy low end, great detail and expansive and well layered soundstage. Best results if turned way up! Yet another gold-star Rhino reissue.
