Notes
Track A3 is spelled "P'ra..." on sleeve and "Para..." on label.
This is a stereo version of the U.S. release. It comes in a gatefold sleeve. Generally looks like transitional variation between early V6-8545 and later V6/8545.
Some copies have sticker on the sleeve that reads:
"V/V6-8545
Contains The Hit Record of THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA"
Label variation: catalog number on label reads as V6-8545 and the width is EQUAL the width of the word above STEREO. The fonts are not similar any other releases. But there are hyphens in between the song titles and durations. Also there are parenthesis around the BMI but A2 says ASCAP instead of BMI. Label reads: "MGM RECORDS - A DIVISION OF METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER, INC. - Made in U.S.A."
Recorded March 18 & 19, 1963 in New York City.
All [Tracklist] [Duration] values are a little blurry on my copy and were added as I viewed them.

I'm not seeing the image verification that "ASCAP" is present on the side 1 label @ A2 as is described in the above notes. Anyone see this? There are at least 3 submissions for the US stereo release that all seem to be the same thing - with the only difference perhaps being the matrix variant - which for this album there's got to be like a million strains.

Edited 3 years agoThis is music for the soul. Even if you're not a bossa nova fan, nor even jazz music in general, you have to appreciate the next-level musicianship taking place here. There's a reason this is a landmark album of the '60s.
Every time I see this in the wild, I am tempted to just buy another copy. Just in case.
This pressing sounds absolutely incredible. Nothing I could see changing in a reissue that could improve upon this sound. Recommended.
