Notes
Made in the EU.
CONTINU/ATION is exclusive to the box set, as are the larger memorabilia items, which are reproduced in actual size for the box.
The package contain more than 100 photographs of Pink Floyd; the majority of which are previously unseen, as well as more than 40 items of memorabilia in special wallets.
In addition, Pink Floyd's first five UK singles have been included in the box, on 7" vinyl with replica sleeves:
PFREYS1 - Arnold Layne,
PFREYS2 - See Emily Play,
PFREYS3 - Apples And Oranges,
PFREYS4 - It Would Be So Nice,
PFREYS5 - Point me at the Sky.
It is noted that BR5 has a copy of the the whole 'Meddle' Album in 5.1 and a new stereo mix.
This is not accessable through the menu as an Easter egg, but can be accessed using Blu ray editing software.
As this is not officially available, I have not noted the contents on the disc.
In , letter included in the box :
Dear fan,
the CD 1972 Obfusc/ation PFREY6 present in your boxset "The Early Years" presents an error of production: the recording STEREO 2016 MIX of PINK FLOYD "Live At Pompeii" was reproduced instead of the announced recording Obscured By Clouds 2016 Remix.
You will find attached a CD 1972 Obfusc/ation PFREY6 of replacement corresponding to the original tracklisting.
Thank you for understanding
Post release Pink Floyd Records/Warner Music issued corrected Blu Ray discs for "1972: Obfusc/ation" & "1967-1972 Continu/ation" to those who filed online for replacements. Parlophone cited errors in the discs playability. Replacements were mailed sealed in slimline CD single jewel cases:
“Following reported problems from fans, a small batch of faulty Blu-ray discs from the Early Years 1965-1972 box set have been identified: the 1972 ‘Obfusc/ation’ Blu-ray and bonus package ‘Continu/ation’ Blu-ray 1.
A disc replacement service has now been set up via fulfilment house Docdata. Purchasers with a non-playing copy of PFREY6BD or PREFY7BD1 should them at [email protected] and they will arrange a replacement disc.
We apologize for the inconvenience and stress that this may have caused to box purchasers, although we have ascertained that this unavoidable damage could not have been predicted.”
The printed duration of tracks DVD4-11 and BR4-11 "Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast" (quad mix) is 13:01. However on DVD and BD the actual track durations are only 11:58 / 11:59. The last minute of the tracks has been cut out for some reason.

Just FYI, I tried to buy a sealed set of these a couple weeks ago, and several of the Blu-rays had the disc rot when I opened them. I returned that one and bought one from a seller who had the replacement disc set from the program. I think the only safe way to get this if you care about the Blu-rays is to find a seller that has an open set, acknowledges the problem, and already has the replacement discs.

I've seen this boxset in a thrift store. Thanks for the warning about bad discs. Will definitely !
How do they manage these awful quality controls? The same happened with many people's blu-ray's in the Dark Side and Wish You.. Immersion boxsets. The story continues it seems. -
I wonder if there's a way of class action lawsuit to replace these defective blu-rays? This is solely a manufacturing issue. The problem I keep facing is that when I keep posing the the question of weather or not PINK FLOYD RECORDS is a record label or distributor I get no definitive answer.
As a distributor there's no issue, I've got the product in question.
As a record labely, yes, these are poorly made and you should be held able for that for a myriad of reasons.

Has anyone had luck recently with disc replacements from warner music? Finally caved in and bought one. I got the japan version, but still made in EU, and my PFREY6BD will not play. Doesn't appear to be bad visually, but can't get any software to read it properly. It's nice that the same material is on DVD, but would prefer a replacement obviously!

Edited 4 years agoIf anyone would be willing to sell me just the five 7" singles, could they please shoot me a PM?

Really want to buy this as well, but can't understand if i am safe or not due to the issues. This sux...great set. my favorite band, favorite era.

I came close to buying this set several times. After hearing about all the problems fans are having with disc rot & the bubbling i am glad i didn't buy it. I still want it really bad. its an amazing looking set. First this huge set came out...then the Later Years box set was released last year...i really hope the cream of the crop set 1972-1983 is next. Lets be serious that's what everyone is waiting for. I would love to have some remastered live stuff from the 1972 "Eclipse" tour. It has always amazed me how they toured playing Darkside from January 1972 to December 1972 and how the album changed so many times during the tour to what we finally hear on the 1973 studio album. I love all Floyd but my favorite era has always been 1972-1983.

In response to other posts regarding quality issues, I purchased this box set over 4 years ago. I played all of the discs (CDs, DVDs and BDs) within a few weeks after purchasing. I did not encounter any issues back then. Today I checked the Obfusc/ation and Reverb/ation BDs, no visual degradation and they play fine. The Obscured By Clouds CD plays fine as well. I visually checked all of the other DVDs and BDs and there are no signs of "disc rot" or any kind of disc discolouration or "bubbling" on the data side. I will test all of the other discs and if I discover any issues I will report back later.

Bought this box a few days ago and, ironically, I don't have problems with the BD so far (haven't watched them all yet), but the replacement CD, the album Obscured by Clouds), doesn't play. Anyone with the same problem?
