Edited 2 months agoJust pulled this out for a spin...Mine sounds good, light on the background noise (after a wet clean), and flat wax. Yes, they pushed the Bass and depending on your system / speakers, I can see where some may get a different experience. If someone is expecting bookshelf speakers to push it, some may have issues with the thick lower Db reverberation. If you are running smaller speakers, I'd recommend a good Sub, at a bare minimum. On my modest system it sounds damn good...
(Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening -
upon my frist listen this sounded terrible, so I didn't really listen to this again. it's some time later and I have a new stylus and I wet cleaned the record too, and it sounds incredible now.

Edited 2 years agoMy copy sounds absolutely amazing. Powerful sound, great bass, mid and treble.
Very silent record.
The album is amazing and this edition is one of the best among all I have from DCD.
Highly recommended. -
I've bought this record after some background check and several listens on yt and was excited about it, for how good were the reviews of this vinyl release. Got it myself from shop, packaged in cardboard (plus for me), but was surprised with the record, which just looked cheap, like bootleg (was very light, and the edge wasn't properly cut). But the record doesn't have any scratches, so I went and cleaned it and played it. I WAS SURPRISED how nice it sounded. Am really happy I got it.

Edited 5 years agoWent through a few copies of this, and all had lots of crackly surface noise, likely from the LPs being jammed into the thick/heavy card stock inner sleeves (they really should've used poly-lined inners). The sound is drastically different from the original 80s pressing: they significantly jacked up the bass and treble on this, which makes the whole thing sound a bit harsh. The bass, in particular, has been seriously cranked. The original has a very pleasing mid-range quality and a nice sense of tonal balance, which this new one lacks. Still an outstanding album, but it's a shame they messed with the sound the way they did. Of all the DCD reissues that I've heard, this one is the worst sounding.

The best DCD album, in my humble opinion: dark and powerful. This reissue is very decent and plays quietly with some minor clicks, especially on Cantara (track 2 side B) and a little surface noise on side B but nothing too serious and when played loudly, it is almost unnoticeable. I am glad I bought this. Not a perfect pressing but a clear 4/5.

This album for me the best, the cover itself a warning sign, if you dont like this kind, please pick up some poppy record instead ☺ death black, hopeless, fine stuff! I love it!

I found this press a little noisy and thin sounding too. I did a needledrop with my at440mlb, it sounds worse than spotify stream.
I bought all the reissues of them from 2016-2017. Some sounds great, such as spiritchaser, into the labyrinth. within the realm of a dying sun is the worst sounding LP of all the reissues. The original recording is indeed a little brittle but sound even worse on vinyl. -
Strange, bought this release and sounds very good. I don't have an original pressing to compare but there was no noise and sound was very powerful. I guess I was lucky because lots of people are complaining about this particular release.
