Sadly this is one of those very few EMI-Bovema errors.
BOTH tracks are mono!
Their art department clearly had set text scripts on the labels and in the box on the sleeve below the label logs "stereo" and were used as standard on print runs of labels and sleeves.
when mastering this one a little less care was taken. Great great shame! -

Who was running the UK Motown office at EMI at the time?
Phil Spector?, Mickey Most?, Shel Tammey? Brian "one ear" Wilson, Johnny "one ear" Ray ? Who?
(the facts of the matter are that Spector, Most, Tammey, and Wilson did not have the skill or know-how to mix for stereo, use a wide 180 degree soundstage, place vocals and instruments in the frame or have the tools to mix down and bounce tracks in stereo. So they kept everything 100% mono, a skill too to put everything in 1 ch, and adjust each EQ to fit and not counter out or overtake the previous mono track.
If we have had constant mono of a track since day one, and there comes an opportunity to actually put the track out in a natural and superior stereo sound, then what's the issue, what's the prob?, you are giving the public something new, something different rather than the same old same old.. Mono a blast from the producer ignorant past ! -

Absolutely 100% avoid this needless and pointless MONO UK undinked-sold centre pressing!
Look no further than EMI-Bovema Netherlands Tamla-Motown 5C 006-91257
1. Picture sleeve
2. Stereo ABC like I want You Back was made for stereo was mixed for stereo explodes on your ears in stereo.
3. Has a dinked 4p optional centre
Enough said melt the above it's pointless.
