Wolves In The Throne Room – Primordial Arcana

Lookout Norway, this is some top notch black metal at its finest. Two Hunters, Thrice Woven, Primordial Arcana are all to be heard. Atmospheric black metal band formed in 2003 in Olympia, Washington. The main are brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver.

Bandcamp is such a box of chocolates, you never know what resolution you're getting until after you lay down your money. In this case we got....24-bit 96kHz....jackpot! This release sounds awesome, the clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. This can be played very loud, and should be, there's nothing to prevent it. The louder you play it the better it sounds. No boomy bass, no ear daggers, just a wide wall of perfect sound. Instruments and vocals are located with laser precision.

Wow. Fantastic pressing. It’s pretty thin/flimsy and quiet (as in, you’ll have to crank the volume to hear it), but despite that it’s a dynamic and high quality pressing with virtually no surface noise or popping/clicking. I wish it was a thicker pressing but despite that I highly suggest this version.

This is my first foray into Wolves in the Throne Room, and I'm really digging it. I have the gold nugget pressing and it sounds great, aside form a bit of surface noise. Nothing a little extra volume cant fix. The instruments are all really well defined and clear. The bass stands out quite a bit in many places, which is refreshing to hear in this genre. I wonder if it's a bass guitar or synth?

Fantastic quality of pressing and of course beautiful album! Dead quite wax, no pops at all and I didn't even washed the record. Just played almost on maximum volume so neighbors can enjoy it too. Not sure if I even need 45RPM version, but will see!

Classic plastic shrinkwrap, LP-booklet is foldable glossy insert size of gatefold sleeve, with lyrics and band info on one side and landscape on other - simple, like it. Poly-lined sleeve, solid record with minimal pops and sound you just have to turn to max, when you spin it. Great buy, recommended. Am happy I didn't get the 45 RPM dlx one, this one satisfies the hunger.

Can also vouch for my copy being mislabelled as 45 RPM.

This version looks incredible. The discs are mesmerizing, the sleeve is gorgeous, and the lyric booklet is more substantial than I expected. Sound-wise, it's a very clean pressing. There were a few bursts of noise during my first play of A1, but my copy may just need a more thorough cleaning.

Oh yeah, this is a beautiful and well packaged single LP. Sound wise, I don't know where it stands against the runs of 2xLP 45rpm versions of this album, but I can say it sounds superb in a very unassuming way. Surface noise is impressively minimal, and the dyanmics are gentle, well-rounded and full of detail. Add a couple extra cranks on the volume knob and you'll be scrying bones in your living room before you know it!
