Morales was definitely inspired, the mixes here take a great song to a different level. But I gotta say that 12" mix is damn fine, and has always been my favorite. When I first discovered this record in '91 it just sounded incredibly fresh and new even a year after it was made, it just felt like a treat every time I put the needle down and played it. Still love this record, Beautiful pressing, I even just enjoy looking at the grooves on this pressing, it sounds very crisp and slaps you awake.

Sounds insanely, insanely good. Almost digital. Bass is deep and tight, no sibilance at all, very detailed.

Bill Drummond: "The Pet Shop Boys actually sent us a 48-track mix, and all we had was our 12-track multitrack. We told them for various artistic reasons we had to start again. Jimmy had one listen to a DAT of their mix and we just completely re-recorded the lot. Neil Tennant came down and put down his vocals again, and from those sessions we chose whatever bits and pieces seemed right. It ended up being a complete re-model and remake. It came out as KLF versus the Pet Shop Boys, but in reality it's all a horrible experience. We aren't really re-mixers."

Red Zone Mix is moody AF. No vocals, just a monster bassline for as far as the ear can hear. Great for the after-hours orange juice crowd.

minimalist ambient remixes of this popular PSB song from the KLF artists. way ahead of its time. hypnotic and etherial and definitely a unique collectors item for PSB fans and electronic music collectors.

I've got one of these in a red tray in a standard jewel case (not a single one) that matches runout variant 4. Is this a variant, a different release or something the previous owner did (I bought it used)?

The Red Zone Mix is possibly Dave Morales' finest work. Beautiful, brooding, atmospheric instrumental.
