Very THICK slab of vinyl. Sounds strong with substantial bass notes.

This is nice album and nice pressing,i was surprised from wax time i bought vinyl because there is no other pressing from main labels.But it is good i did...I give 8/10 for this pressing...

Music is superb - but this pressing has an unacceptable amount of ticks, pops and general surface noise.

Really happy with the most recent (2024) repress from Analogue Productions; sound is excellent and pressing is impeccable! Buy in complete confidence.

Flat record. Quiet, but not entirely silent: a few very light rotational ticks on Side 2 that were not removed by ultrasonic cleaning.

Not a great-sounding record, not a demonstration album you will use to show off your system, but sounds fine for a live recording from 1958. Piano sounds decent, but percussion at times sounds muffled and thumpy. Musically, it is easy to understand why this record is so well-ed; the music is great and Jamal's playing is wonderful. Jamal has a few tricks he uses to make his musical points and you get to understand where he was stylistically at this point in his career...and you get to understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to this artist.

Great sounding record. To my ears, clearer than what is on streaming. The master tapes for this album were lost in a fire - from what I recall, these chess represses were some of the last made when the original sources were still available. Find the earliest copy you can..what is online is likely a copy of a copy of a copy, because that’s all that’s left now.

Very nice quality pressing, recommended. Light classic jazz, goes best with a glass of whiskey or wine.

I was so excited to find the rare stereo press of this album hidden in a dollar bin at an antique mall, but soon learned that this is reprocessed stereo, so it’s not true stereo. But it still sounds good. The cymbals on the drums are little raspy and distorted in this pressing. Overall it is not superior to the mono pressings, and therefore not worth the long and brutal search for a decent copy. I prefer the mono copy that I have over the stereo.

Stunning record and a very decent pressing. RIP Ahmad. Such an inspiration for so many.
