My copy has A4/A5 runouts, but otherwise exactly the same as this one, is this considered a variant of this pressing or is it just its own pressing?

Seminal release from Jamal, generally (and fairly) considered his most essential recording. Plenty has already been said about his masterpiece interpretation of "Poinciana," but the entire record is wonderful. Israel Crosby and Vernell Fournier interact with Jamal to create one of the most symbiotic trios this side of Evans, LaFaro, and Motian.

The wax is heavy and solid, and it sounds deep and rich. The scratches and pops that accumulated over more than 70 years just dance across this robust sound. The playing on this record are so inspired and forward looking that you might say "but not for me" is timeless. The final song on side b, with its hypnotic rhythmic interplay between bass and piano, contains multiple awesome breaks for hip-hop minded listeners. Finally, the market for this record makes it highly affordable.

Shockingly good, 21st century sonic seekers think Dilla but with bass-key-drums delivered by three different cats in the '50s. Simply shockingly good.
