This is the first German pressing of The Nightfly — and it’s an absolute gem. Zero surface noise, a stunningly wide and detailed soundstage, and a clarity that outshines most modern reissues. As one of the earliest fully digital (DDD) recordings released on vinyl, it shows how beautifully digital precision can coexist with analog warmth.

On my setup — Yamaha A-S1200 paired with Elac FS 407 speakers and a Thorens turntable — this album truly shines. Donald Fagen’s voice feels intimate, the stereo imaging is razor-sharp, and the overall presentation is effortlessly musical. If you ever find this pressing, grab it without thinking — it’s pure audiophile bliss.

Holy crap. This is easily one of the best sounding piece of music I’ve ever heard. The music straight up jumps out and away of my speakers in ways no other album or song I’ve ever heard does. You MUST hear this, but it is outrageously expensive. Try to torrent or pirate a digital rip because oh my I didn’t even know a recording could sound this good.

In the process of going through about 230 records with an ultrasonic cleaner and wow this one really opened up. This is the copy to get if your not gonna spring for the mofi.

Where the Chris Bellman and MoFi One Step cuts of The Nighfly represent the best ive heard on vinyl of this incredible recording, this SACD is the best digital version ive heard. While the CD from the Cheap Xmas set sounds amazing the DSD layer here just cleans the top end and expands the soundstage and pinpointing at the same time. Its frankly so good i nearly cried even though ive long known this is one of the best recorded albums of all time bar none and will never not sound it. I really wanted this SACD to be no better than the CD so i could sell it and just have the excellent Cheap Xmas set on my simplified shelf (as i love all Donalds solo stuff) but alas, this SACD goes into my top 5 discs of all time and very possibly is the very best one of the lot. Yeah, i said it alright. Possibly the best sounding digital media disc of ALL TIME.

Looks like all they've done is crank up the volume past the upper 0dB limit, regardless of the loss of valuable audio data and introduction of clipping. This kind of hack-job was unfortunately typical of Japanese mini-LP reissues at the time.

This is a spectacular album. Sounds great! I recently delved into serious vinyl listening and have learned so much with turntable settings to "dial in" and extract the best out of my vinyl playback and I have tell you, this album blows me away with its dynamic & clarity. I'm loving it. I highly recommend this version!

As expected, this pressing and cut by the legendary RL is perfect in every way. A sonic masterpiece!

I'm confused. I either got a bad pressing, or the reviews on this particular pressing/cut are inaccurate. For me, this 180G pressing (labeled "BC-67807") doesn't hold a candle to the 2020 pressing that I already have that's not on 180G vinyl. That copy is labeled (1-530187-A) with stylized "Cb" in the runout (an actual Chris Bellman mastering). My 1-530187-A/Cb pressing has much better dynamics, cleaner highs, deeper lows, and a HUGE soundstage. None of which is present in this copy of mine, so I don't know if it's my pressing or not. Maybe someone else with both versions could compare/.
