The sound clarity should not be understated. Ludwig's ear is unmatched, especially with such a quality recording such as this.

I was doing an all night jazz show on KKGO FM in Los Angeles in the late 80s.
My name is Leslie, not Lester. And I was the Night Owl, not the Nightfly.
Too many similarities. And I hadn't even heard this track until I was a year into
my tenure. Eerie. -
Indeed this is a really good sounding record - great mastering, loud, punchy, dynamic.
Got mine for $2.
However, the music is pretty monotonous apart from I.G.Y. which is certainly a classic.
I know this is meant to be a really great album and no office to the fans.
I've tried to listen to this right through number of times but I just can't get it. -
Wow, this version is amazing-sounding. It's like I'm in the studio. Better than the Quiex II..and it cost one dollar at the used record store.

Edited 3 years agoIf the metal parts are sourced from Allied shouldn’t Allied be the top listing? I always see SRC pressings at the top and Allied down in the middle somewhere. Is it an East coast vs West coast thing?
-
If anyone happens to have a copy of the MFSL digital VHS or Betamax (which aren't listed above), please me!
-
A great, great pressing and tremendous value! The dynamics are excellent and RL did a masterful job with his mastering. This should be in everyone's collection.
-
This album is without a doubt the single best sounding LP that I own. Robert Ludwig's mastering job is simply perfection and I have not heard another LP match it's quality.
