The Jackson’s real first creative control. Classic album with classic songs. One of my favorites.

        Album Revolution # 1:

        Ohhhhh....YES!!!!!! Here, we go!!!!

After all the years of performing and making Records, the Brothers "Jackson" finally got to totally Produce themselves without anyone telling them what to do....(It Was About Time!!!!!!)....That's where "The Jacksons" went into the Studio and PRODUCED their BEST ALBUM EVER in "Destiny"!!!!!! There were no lengths that they were not willing to go on this beautifully crafted album...This album is an Ultimate Ultimate, Ultimate Crown Jewel...From start to finish it was just PURE BUTTER!!!!!

The beginning starts on FIRE with "Blame It On The Boogie"..Yes, you might say that it sounds like they have done something like this before....But if you listen real close, the difference is the Music itself, which carries the groups personality.....

To some people, it might seem like "Push Me Away" was in the wrong spot....But actually it helped the album flow very well, with its sweet smooth Melody, surrounding "Michael's" Vocals perfectly...

"Things I Do For You" just continued to get you on the floor....

Then there's the Super Duper Crown Jewel of Side 1, "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)".....Now that one right there BUMPS so hard that it seems like 8 minutes wasn't enough!!!! What really made "Shake Your Body" great was the 2 and a half minute finish with the Drums and Keyboards....

The "Title Track" , the start of the second side, was really one of the most creative songs the Brothers ever recorded....My Daughters love this song so much, that my oldest went and got her own copy of the album....

"Bless His Soul" followed the pattern of the "Title Song", also a favorite of my Daughters, which had them singing along, especially the "Ha, Ha, Ha's" at the ending....

"All Night Dancin'", was the last song on the album to make you sweat on the dance floor...

The last song and the Ultimate, Ultimate, Ultimate Crown Jewel of the Side 2 is "That's What You Get (For Being Polite)"....If you dissect the lyrics, you can tell it was the "Michael Jackson Autobiography", with fantastic Music behind it....

They may have had more popular albums (particularly the "Michael Jackson" albums), but NONE of them came close to this one CREATIVLY!!!! In fact, when you look inside the cover, the pictures PROVED that they were in COMMAND of the Studio!!!!! This started the Album Revolution for the group, and it took the group into the STRATOSPHERE!!!!!

I noticed quite a bit of sibilance on several tracks with this pressing. If I adjust the Treble and mid-range levels it isn't as bad, but it's definitely there. I use a AT 95E stylus on a Technics SLD2 TT.

I'm glad I got this promo copy, all tunes sound great, warm, classic 70's sound with full range, detail and mids.

This was a bargain, £10 including delivery, it sounds like new and sounds amazing. Great album in general as well. This is such a good example of why it's worth having a record player.

The Jacksons' greatest album. More often than not, I think about what the future of The Jacksons (both collectively and individually) would've been had this coming-of-age triumph never came to . Even with their eventful break from Motown, their start at CBS Records proved to be filled with promise and disappointment. The Gary, Indiana-hailed brothers were hit with growing pains, lending their maturing talents to the masterminds of Philadelphia International, Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff, where they recorded two fine, yet cursory long-players of Philly pop-soul. They desired full artistic control over the musical direction of their career. Not to mention, the Gamble & Huff-produced 1977 follow-up to their well-received self-titled CBS debut, Goin' Places underperformed on the charts. For their next stint on CBS, the brothers made the bold decision to self-produce and write their third album, considering the time they spent in front and behind the studio console over the years. Destiny just may represent one of the most significant career resurgences ever, the critical point where the brothers emerged as true songwriters and producers. Everything here just clicks grandly, balancing high-octane club jams with deeply moving ballads, which contain some of the most emotionally-charged and autographical of Michael Jackson's entire career. A defining masterpiece that deserves more than being relegated as a footnote in the Jacksons' illustrious career.

No complaints at all about the quality of the 1978 original US Epic pressing (with the orange label.) Just a wonderfully engineered and mastered album.

There is a Hong Kong Release of this album with the same number as the Japanese Release. No Gatefold.

Great album. Wish it contained the long version of "Blame It On The Boogie" but the whole thing is a must for funk and disco fans of the sunny Jacksons brand
