Oh did a click on track four offend your precious little audiophile ears? I’m very sorry for your hardship

Overall, this is a meh pressing. The packaging is good and comes with the lyric booklet, which I appreciate. However, there is too much noise in between tracks and some pops throughout Side B on my copy.

Are there any decent Universal pressings of this album are they all screwed up?
It’s a shame because all the other Elton John pressings in this series seem fine. -
People on here raving about the Bob Ludwig remasters. HMV recently had Tumbleweed Connection at half price so I took the opportunity to hear for myself.
It's not bad sounding, but it's not great either. I wasn't expecting AAA levels of dynamics and openness but these digital remasters are just alright on vinyl and no more. The digital that comes with this sounds great on my iPod. They really should have released these Bob Ludwig remasters on CD also. But of course, they would only be able to charge a third of what they charge for vinyl.
Some people reporting clicks and pops on Side 1, track 5. Mine has it on the beginning of Side 2, track 1. The click comes once for about 5 or 6 revolutions. Annoyingly, Where To Now, St Peter is one of the best songs on the album.
The record is cut very quiet so you really have to turn the volume knob up. -

This is not a good pressing Lots of pops on My Fathers Gun. I bought a sealed copy. Noise throughout. The Deluxe cd sounds better. Plus the piano demo of Come Down in Time is fantastic

Edited 3 years agoMy copy sounds great until 1/2way through last track on
side 1- My Father’s Gun, which is IMO one of the best cuts on this already great LP. But it gets crackly for the second half of track. Bummer 😕! Does anyone else have crackle patches ?
PS- I would only give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Because of this but I can’t edit or did I give it 5 stars. -
Sounds pretty good. Loud. Good bottom end and highs. Seems to be missing a little bit of instrument separation. But no surface noise. I've got an older UNI pressing that sounds a little warmer and more dynamic, more mid-range, but not as loud, and lots of surface noise.
