What a classic debut album. Sounds amazing on wax. The gold vinyl is the cherry on top. This album will never get old. I still seeing the STRESS video when YouTube was just starting out. Love listening to this album on my record player

As far as side A goes, this is the sharpest, loudest record I've ever heard. Not heard the rest as of yet, but the BASS on this pressing is insane. My Ortofon DJ cartridge fits well too. An occasional pop but my stylus may just be dirty, whoops! The recording obviously isn't particularly dynamic as far as pure loudness goes, but every bit of bass and percussion just pops exactly how it should. Sounds better than Spotify, that's for damn sure.

This is by far the loudest cut album I've ever heard. It's actually nuts. I don't think it would work well on any other album besides this one, it really thumps and sounds great. Nice heavy jacket too. Love it!

Fantastic Pressing of a (soon to be) Classic Album. Mine has no pops, no issues at all. It’s flat and plays gloriously and is now the reference to this album.. The packaging is stellar as VMP can be, not always, but this time it is. Love the distortion on this one, adds a real sense of atmosphere to the sound. Play it LOUD as it was intended.

This is maximal dance music at its finest, and this version captures it perfectly.
Those complaining about the distortion present in this music are completely missing the point.
First, distortion is part of the recording and mastering, and is ESSENTIAL to the sound of Justice's music; it's intended to sound huge, overblown and peaked out.
Second, great music doesn't have to sound pristine ... in fact, many of the best and biggest albums ever put to wax are far from pristine "sounding" (see The Stooges).
Third, a great vinyl pressing makes the music come to life, and that is exactly what this pressing has done. The 45 RPM format gives this music room to breathe and be HUGE, and my pressing is stellar ... no pops or non-fill. I've owned previous pressings and CDs, and this is now my reference copy for how this album is supposed to sound. HIGHLY recommended. -
No issue here with this record ! Perfectly flat, it sounds absolutely amazing on my system. In fact, it sounds better than my standard european version. More bass, better soundstage... Great edition, good job vinyl me please

Edited one year agoI agree 100% with maynardewm. This pressing is noisy. Fortunately the near-constant crackling surface noise is mostly masked by the music, which is very loud with very few quiet patches. I like the music, by the way.
I subscribe to VMP in order to be exposed to albums I would not normally buy on my own; I let VMP curate a small part of my collection. In order for that to work, I have to trust VMP to pick good records. Now, there are Justice stans in this thread berating critics with comments along the lines of "The sibilance is part of the original recording and you would know that if you knew the album like we do". Ummm, the whole point of a club like VMP is to introduce this record to a lot of new people. But that only works if VMP can be trusted to pick records that will sound good as audiophile pressings. If a recording is poor quality like this one then VMP probably should not pick it to get the deluxe treatment.
On the plus side, the whole package, from the jacket to the vinyl itself, is simply gorgeous to look at!
If only it sounded as good as it looks... -
the BEST sounding record in my collection. the listening notes do this release 'justice', enticing the listener to crank it up: LOUD. super easy as this is quite a loud mix. love it!

Edited 2 years agoVery interesting listen compared to the standard CD version. My copy has zero warping, plays perfect. Yes the CD version may be more "accurate," but this is easily more "fun" - - I'll let you decide what fun means, but for me it's: more depth to the synth textures, more textured bass drum, more exciting soundstage. Overall 10/10!
