Didn't have any issues with shrill sound as described in other posts. Perhaps a pressing issue. Very quiet and flat. Nix mix overall on a great album

Edited one year agoI’m going against the grain here. It’s shrill and shakey sound. I’ll say maybe that is a tape thing, read some things to that effect…. But, this is only a semi enjoyable listen. The sound is recessed and veiled. There is also a lot of sibilance. This might be the “best you can get” from any recent reissue but that doesn’t mean it sounds good.

Edited 2 years agoMy copy share exact same matrix number as the 2017 KPG reissue (https://discogs.futbolgratis.org/release/10652131-Van-Morrison-Astral-Weeks). Does it mean 2017 copy is simply re-print from the same plate used for this 2009 R1 version?

What an excellent copy. I’ve been testing out new speakers with old favorites like this, and this really is a stellar pressing of a great album. Extra points for thick cardboard sleeve. Still can get for cheap, highly recommend picking up a copy.

Awesome sound but would it have killed them to put it a lyric sheet or at least something with the songwriting and musician credits? Bare bones.
-
Edited 3 years agoStunner of a pressing. It’s easily the best version I’ve heard. Well worth grabbing a copy.
-
Edited 4 years agoPicked this up for $12CAD used at a record shop about a year ago. I know that was a pretty good price already but it's crazy how prices have risen.

Simply as good as a reissue can be. Tip on sleeve, AAA quality, RTI pressing. This may be the definitive version of this classic record IMHO.
