Superb pressing! Vinyl is flat and quiet with absolutely no distortion. The treble and mid-range are detailed and transparent. The bass is deep and tight -- punches with authority. Of note, because the album is two records pressed on 45 rpm, the full version studio tracks are included as opposed the edited tracks on the 33 rpm single record. I remain very impressed with the Abbey Road Half-Speed Master vinyl pressings. They rank among the best pieces in my collection. Highly recommended!

Edited 6 months agoI own the Stan Ricker double from 2007 and that sounds amazing but I'd like to hear this.
The original U-Matic master was found recently and used for this Abbey Road 1/2 Speed pressing.
The same for Local Hero which I bought.
On another note, the original 1985 BIA pressing sounds superb now when I'm comparing. Some songs are edited but it's loud, punchy and well cut. -
Fantastic pressing and an excellent mix. Bought brand new, perfectly flat and zero noise. For me it's as good as the original. Highly recommended

Amazing pressing for a good buck.
I also own the Original Master Record from 2015. I must say, the Original Master Record is a bit better than this pressing, but its much more expensive than this pressing.
But overal, its very good. It also come with a nice half speed master certificate which looks fabelous.
Only downside is that the LP's catches alot of dust and i have to make them dust free regulary.
The Original Master Record stays dust free, mainly because the sleeve of the Original Master Record is dust free.

This is absolutely incredible. The sound is just amazingly good. Really happy with this one. Recommended!

Sounds absolutely terrific on my system - awesome, but I'm having trouble getting a copy that's free of pressing flaws... I'm on my 3rd copy now, let's see. It always pops, ticks and crackles in one place or another - even after several professional cleanings... Well, we'll see.

Bought this second hand, in Near Mint condition (looked more like Mint). Second record sounded dirty with a lot of pops, crackles and "vinyl sound". Went through 3-time-ultrasonic-wash and it got better, but it still has pops and some vinyl sound.
With Audio Technica VM740ML (microline) cartridge the overall sound is a bit "digital" to my ear. It is very clear with the highs and bass has also good resolution, but it just does not sound as natural as I would have hoped. I know microlines are notorious of picking up the highs - but no other record of mine has similar, a bit harsh, highs like this. It does sound quite good, but not as good as it should.
I would imagine that this would be a good fit with a cartridge (and equipment chain) that has warmer sound - for microlines I would probably pick some other pressing. -
The music is, of course exquisite, and deserves to be presented with ultimate respect. The remastered material given to the manufacturers couldn't have been better. Too bad the manufacturers just don't get it. Personally I have no complaints with the music's overall sound. Key word, "overall." But let's face it, the source material is so good that you could train monkeys to play it, and it would sound great. I can't comment on the CD versions too much.
But getting back to respect; the album cover is worthless! The disc liners are worthless! The post-pressing cleanup protocols were worthless! When I first unpacked, and gave the discs a close visual, the scratches and marks, and crap I saw all over it made me think, "this can't play!." Luckily, the needle stayed with it. What an insult to Dire Straits, and me, and all of us. I was almost too embarrassed to put the discs in a Diskeeper sleeve. I finally managed to shut out the background noises, and clicks and pops and crackles, and become absorbed in the, I say again, "exquisite" music. If you can just focus in on the music that's coming at you, it's worth every penny. It sounds wonderful. Musically, and the quality of sound are, I believe, probably impossible to beat. But whoever made this album package needs to cleanup their act, big time!! That's it. I'm done.........Dave
