just picked this up over the weekend and finally gave it a listen. no skips but some minor surface noise on the b-side during alive. otherwise sounds great!
-
This record sounds great, period. Bass is strong, perfect range, flat as a pancake, no skips, quiet where it should be quiet. Zero complaints from my side.
Yeah, they had to split the original CD master it into two tracks, but that's hardly a quibble. -
Very good repressing. Dead silent wax, slapping bass, engaging dynamics.
Was surprised to see ‘skipping’ reviews, thought were already over 30$ suitcase craptables. Playing excellent on my setup (Technics 1500c, AT-VM750SH). -
it's probably my cartridge (Ortofon 2M Blue) but this record sounds kinda flat tonally. i'm sure a little EQing would fix this issue, or heck, maybe my cartridge just needs more time to burn in. but regardless of sound quality, this record is pressed and packaged very very well, with the exception of having just a standard paper sleeve, albeit a thick one. love that it came with stickers

No skips here, only one hard hitting live performance by the best French House duo to have ever existed.

Thrilled that the Alive 1997 and Alive 2007 copies are back in print in 2022. I just nabbed both and hace only heard this one so far which is generally acknowledged to be the better one in the pair. The disc sounds good. What I wanted to know was if in the vinyl version the split between two sides was noticeable as compared to the CD version, which I never heard. Another way to ask this. Is it better to get the CD of the vinyl. I recently heard the first Can live record from last year Live In Stuttgart and found the splits between tracks distracting and thought the CD set flowed better.

Decent liveset, great pressing.
Record is flat, well centered and has almost no surface noise.
And no, it doesn't skip, but it's definitely hard to track - at certain parts I can see my cartridge shaking when looking at it up close (not audible).
IMO, Alive 2007 is a better liveset - that one has a way deeper bass.

Quality tested using an Ortofon Concorde MKII Elite cartridge on a Technics SL-1200M7L turntable -
Luckily there are no skips for me. I was worried after reading some of these comments! Sound is good for this release. The album isn't really that great, though. I much prefer Alive 2007!

Skips for me during the first minute or so of each side, particularly on the A Side. Understand that this may not be a problem on better set-ups. Am using a Pro-Ject T1 (so certainly not the cheapest option) and have never had skipping issues on c.250 other records, including Homework, Discovery and RAM.
Fantastic record otherwise. Recorded at the home of music (Birmingham).
Stickers are a nice touch. -
Le pressage de cet album live est juste à tomber. Cette réédition est une pure merveille, qualitativement et émotionnellement parlant!
