Columbia red 6-eye logo labels. Runouts are stamped, except plating hashes (e.g., 1-41A1) are etched.

Label variant, the caption 'MARCAS REG.' is located between the LP logo and the "walking eye" logo in the bottom rim text.
On a later version, Jazz: Red Hot And Cool, this caption appears after the "walking eye" logo, with no "T. M."

Recorded at the Basin Street night club in New York, in October 1954 and July 1955.

One of the best Brubeck / Desmond albums. Underrated live album

Paul Desmond on alto Sax s Dave and others to record this LIVE LP that was recorded at the famous Basin Street club...Early, late...whenever you hear Dave Brubeck it WAS the right time...A legendary artist, this old Columbia LP from '55 is still a great spin on your turntable today...See, good music remains good music over the years...And Brubeck music actually mellows with age...Don't believe me? Listen!

the photo credit for this LP is a bit confusing and odd! on the back cover, in the liner notes, Helena Rubinstein is credited - but right on the front cover, at the bottom left, it's clearly credited this way: Photograph: Richard Avedon (who went on to become one of the most famous photographers of the 20th Century. anyone know for sure who this photo should be credited to?
